Field notes Vegetation: elfin ericaceous scrub on rocky outcrops. Shrub, 2-2.5 m; some plants with a large lignotuber; young flush foliage dark blood-red or pinkish red, leaves coriaceous, yellowish green above, whitish green below; rhachises red, calyces with a gren tube and scarlet lobes, fleshy corollas scarlet with green lobes, style red, corollas fall early to leave persistent calyces. A small population locally and also common around Chilla
