| Field notes | Vegetation: bosque andino and elfin ericaceous scrub rich in Proteaceae with open grassy patches. Multiple-stemmed compact, elegant shrub to 4 m, old stems brown, young stems reddish; leaves coriaceous, slightly discolorous, dark green glossy above, somewhat paler and dull below, calyces dark blood-red, corollas in bud dark pink, petal outer surface pale pinkish mauve, inner face pale whitish pink, anthers ochre-brown with a dark purplish black spur.
