| Field notes | Cespitose palm. Stem 8-10 m long, 8 cm thick; internodes 18 cm long, light brown, with 3-10 cm long spines. Stilt roots more than 100, 1 m long, 1-3 cm thick, forming a root cone. Leaves 8 per stem; sheath 70 cm long, open; petiole 110 cm long, section round, with a thick light-brown indumentum and few 2 cm long black spines; rachis 2.24 m long; lamina pinnate; pinnae 36 per side, inserted in groups of 3-10. Silica gel sample taken. Transect: HB 1046, subunit no. 8 |
