| Field notes | Very bushy scandent shrub, square stem; 1 cyme of 3 flowers in each leaf axil, usually toward branch ends; calyx purple; corolla tube maroon, limb white; stamens 4 on 2-3 cm purple filaments, anthers versatile, didynamous; style maroon, bifid; fruit brown, spongy, 4 pyrenes; very common on beaches and rocky coasts. |
