| Field notes | Cespitose. Stem up to 3 m high, 1.5 cm wide, internodes 5 cm. Stem broken but regenerated. Leaves 7; erect and arching; sheath 20 cm closed for 8 cm; petiole 40 cm, rounded below, flat above basally, terete apically; pinnae 3 per side. Inflorescence infrafoliar, spicate; prophyll 9 cm gremnants of peduncular bract 6 cm, inserted 1 cm above prophyll; peduncle to 13 cm; rachis to 26 cm. Common name: "Ya na muyl", "Pepas negras" in Spanish. Use: Thatch. The leaves are split. |
