Field notes Stem to 3 m, 2 cm diam, internodes 3 cm. Leaves 8, sheath of loe´wer leaf 15 cm, open to base; petiole 50 cm, rounded below, channeled above, when young covered with a whitish tomentum; rachis 100 cm, rounded below, with a sharp ridge above; pinnae 21-23 per side, regularly inserted, 2.5 veined, basal pinnae 40 x 1.5 cm, middle pinnae 45 x 3 cm, apical pinnae 28. x 2.5 cm. Inflorescence bud interfoliar, in the corner of lowermost leaf; prophyll 13 cm, 3 cm wide, 1. peduncular bract enclosed in prophyll, 12 cm, inserted 0.5 cm above the prophyll; 2. peduncualr bract 6 cm, inserted 1 cm above 1. peduncular bract, split to base; rachillae twisted within the unexpanded flower bud, yellowish green. Dead inflorescence infrafoliar, ina´serted 1 node below lowermost leaf, twice branched, prophyll and peduncular bracts deciduous, peduncle 9 cm, 0.8 cm wide; rachis 15 cm, 1. order rachillae 15, upper 9 simple, these to 12 cm, lower 1. order rachillae once branched, 7 cm, pedunculate for 5, lowermost with up to 5 2. order rachillae, middle tri- or bifurcate. Note: found on the highest parts of the forest.
