| Field notes | Solitary. Stem to 4 m, 6 cm diam. Leaves 9; sheath 19 cm, open to base, with long fibers to 10 cm along margins; petiole 45 cm, 1.5 cm wide, rounded below, flat above, green; rachis 120 cm; pinnae 12 per side, 2 - 8 veined, basal pinnae 41 X 4 cm, middle pinnae 56 X 9 cm, apical pinnae 49 X 12 cm. Inflorescence (expanding) infrafoliar; prophyll 21 cm, 7 cm wide; 1. peduncular bract 20 cm, 5 cm wide, insewrted 1 cm above prophyll; 2. peduncular bract 8 cm, 2 cm wide, split to base, inserted 3 cm above prophyll; peduncle, rachis and rachillae yellow-green; 1st order rachillae 13, upper 6 simple, lower 1st order rachillae with 10 2nd order rachillae of which the upper 7 are simple. |
