| Field notes | Stem to 4 m, 4 cm diam. internodes 2 cm. Leaves 10; sheath 23 cm, open to base, with long fibers along margins; petiole 50 cm, 1 cm wide, rounded below, flat above; rachis 114 cm; pinnae 8 - 10 per side, 3 - 9 veined, basal pinnae 41 X 6.5 cm, middle pinnae 54 X 12. 5 cm, apical pinnae 49 X 18 cm. Inflorescence bud interfoliar, inserted at base of lower leaf; prophyll 23 cm, 8 cm wide; peduncular bract 19 cm, inserted 2 cm above prophyll; peduncle (immature) 16 cm; rachis with up to 3. order rachillae, all rachillae green, twisted within the bud. |
