Field notes Solitary. Stem 8-9 m, 14 cm diam, internodes 5 cm basally, 2.5 cm apically. Leaves 12; sheath 70 cm. open to base, upper 15 cm bending away from stem, margins fibrous, forming a reticulate pattern, green covered with a white indumentum; petiole 24 cm, 4.5 cm wide, rounded below, with 2 grooves above; rachis 160 cm, triangular in c.s; pinnae 42 per side, regularly inserted, basal pinnae almost erect, distal pinnae almost horizontal, all pinnae with 1 prominent midrib and 2 x 3 2. veins; basal pinnae 52 x 4 cm, middle pinnae 62 x 6 cm, apical pinnae 35 x 5 cm. Inflorescence 1, infrafoliar, inserted 2 nodes below the crown, up to 3 times branched; prophyll 62 cm, 10 cm wide, inserted 5 cm above base, 1. peduncular bract 57 cm, 5 cm wide at base, 10 cm wide apically, inserted 12 cm above prophyll, 2. peduncular bract (reminiscent of) 27 cm, 6 cm wide, inserted 20 cm above 1. peduncular bract; peduncle 63 cm, 7 cm wide at base, 4.5 cm wide near rachis, flattened 2.5 cm thick, covered with whitish tomentum; rachis 48 cm, green covered with white/green tomentum; 1. order archillae 17, upper 9 simple, lower 1. order rachillae 26 cm, pedunculate for 11 cm, 3 cm wide at base, 2. order rachillae 9, 8 upper simple, the lower bifurcate, 30 cm, 1 cm wide, upper 1. order rachillae 27 cm, 1 cm wide. Infructescences 3, infrafoliar, to three times branched; peduncle 64 cm, 8 cm wide at base, 5 cm wide near rachis, recurring, pointing downwards; rachis 54 cm, 1. order rachillae 19, upper 9 simple, these 29 cm, 1 cm wide; fruits (immature) green, 13 mm x 12 mm; fruits (mature) globose, bluish black, 15 mm diam, mesocarp fibrous fleshy, violet.
