| Field notes | Solitary. Stem 1 m, 2 cm diam, with adventitious roots at base. Leaves 7; sheath18 cm, spiny; petiole 40-50 cm, green, not spiny; rachis 23 cm; blade entire, bifid at apex, 60 X 30 cm. Infructescence infrafoliar, inserted in the axil of a persistent lower leafsheath; prophyll 7 cm, 2 cm wide, fibrous, rotten; peduncular bract lacking; peduncle 7 cm, spiny, curved; rachis 2 cm; rachillae 4, 1-3 cm long, each carrying 1 immature fruit; fruits globose, green, 1.5 cm diam. |
