| Field notes | Solitary. Stem to 2 m, 1 cm diam., light brown, internodes 1 - 2 cm. Leaves 11, erect, arching; sheath 7 cm, open to base; petiole 20 - 30 cm, rounded below, flat above, green; rachis 17 - 19 cm, blade entire, 30 X 18 cm, bifid, dark green above, plicate. Infructescences up to 2 per plant, infra - to interfoliar, once branched; prophyll 15 cm, 1 cm wide, fibrous; peduncular bract 12 cm, fibrous, inserted 4 - 5 cm above prophyll; peduncle 15 cm, cream at base, red above; rachis 4 - 6 cm, red; rachillae 4, 8 - 16 cm, red pendent; fruits subglobose, black, 1 cm diam.
