Leaves to 9; sheath 10-14 cm, open to base; petiole 20-70 cm, rounded below, flat above basally, more or less terete apically; rachis 40-55 cm; pinnae 6-8 per side, 2-6 veined, bsasl pinna 29 x 8 cm, midlle pinna 26 x 6 cm, apical pinna 24 x 6 cm. Inflorescence buds up to 3 per plant, interfoliar, erect. Inflorescences up to 3 per plant, interfoliar, erect, spicate; prophyll 38 x 1.5 cm, winged, flattened; peduncular bract 42 cm, green, inserted 1 cm above prophyll; peduncle to 115 cm, 0.5-0.7 cm wide, flattened in c.s., red; rachis to 34 cm, 1 cm wide, wine red; fruits lanceolate during first stages, later becoming ovoid, 1 x 0.7 cm, green, often crowding rachis when mature in 8 distinct vertical rows. Note: G. procumbens often grows very close to specimens of G. cuneata, but is not as common as latter. |
