| Field notes | Solitary. Stem 3 m, 3 cm diam, procumben; internodes 2 cm, light brown. Leaves 10; sheath 19 cm, open to the base, fibrous at the margins; petiole 45 cm, rounded below, channeled to flat above; rachis 50 cm; pinnae 8-10 per side; 10-9 veined; lower pinnae 33 x 5 cm, midlle pinnae 31 x 4 cm, apical pinnae 22 x 9 cm. Inflorescence infrafoliar, inserted 13 cm below the lower most leaf; bracts missing, only 1 peduncular bract (3.) present, 5 cm long, inserted 8 cm above the base; peduncle 21 x 1 cm, covered with a brown tomentum; rachis 9 cm, dark red; rachillae 10, the lower forked, ca. 16 cm long, 1 cm wide, dark red. |
