Stem: 30 cm long, 2.5 cm diam. Leaves 10: sheath 15 cm, petiole 25-35 cm, rachis 60-70 cm, 6-7 pinnae on each side in groups of 2 or 1. Inflorescence: prophyll 15 x 1 cm, peduncle 30-75 cm, rachis 12 cm, 8 rachillae, up to 26 cm long, 3 mm thick with flowers, 5 mm thick in fruit. Staminate flowers purple
