| Field notes | Voucher. Primary premontana forest. Little solitary tree with stem 35 cm high. Crown of 4 leaves. Leaves 240 cm long including the 90 cm long peduncle. 33 pinnae on each side. Pinnae up to 54 cm long. One open inflorescence and one enclosed in a bract. Peduncle reddish 39 cm measured from the prophyll to the first rachilla. 6 rachillae distributed on the 9 cm long rachis. Rachillae light yellow 17, 23, 23, 23, 24 and 27 cm long starting with innermost. Sweet odour. According to the Quichua indian, Angel Alvarado, at the biological station "Jatun Sacha" the leaves are used for thaching. |
