Field notes Palm population left in a field that belongs to the village. Many branched individuals of Borassus present in the region. Borassus aethiopum Mart. var. senegalensis. The individual collected is unbranched. The trunk is 10,6 m tall. Trunk 28,8 cm in diam. at breast height (at 130 cm). Trunk diam. at different hights: 1 m: 29,4 cm; 2 m: 28,2 cm; 3 m: 28,2 cm; 4 m: 30,0 cm; 5 m: 33,5 cm; 6 m: 38,8 cm; 7 m: 36,0 cm; 8 m: 34,0 cm; 9 m: 40,7. Crown of 27 green leaves. Leaf bases surrounding the trunk. Leaf base and petiole split open giving place for the inflorescence to develop and descend through the split. Petioles light green to slightly yellowish with black margins. Leaf bases 95, 100 and 100 cm long. Petioles (not including leaf bases) 154, 150 and 160 cm long. Leaf blade 176, 172 and 174 cm long with 82 segments in 6 wawes. The basal segments are 80 cm long. Abaxial slits of the blade variable. Basally: 62 cm; middle part: 56 cm; apically: 72 cm. Adaxial slits c. 32 cm long. Immature fruits green.
