| Field notes | Plant to 2.5 m tall. Leaves green beneath. Flowers slightly yellowish white, with one outer staminode, some flowers with a rudimentary second outer staminode. No fruits found in old inflorescences. Nodes of inflorescences accompanying leaves distinctly red. |
