| Field notes | Clustering herb, plant 65-165 cm tall incl. inflorescence, 3-6 leaves per shoot, sheath 30-60 cm long, petiole 12-25 cm long incl. pulvinus, blade 30-50 x11-19 cm, green on both sides. Peduncle 60-75 cm long, flower head elongate, 9-10 cm long, outer bracts brown. Peduncle to 120 cm long in fruit. Flowers white. Fruits pale greyish green, shining, rounded-triangular in cross-section. Seed black when mature, aril missing in all fruits seen, eaten by insect larvae, aril white in immature fruits. |
