| Field notes | Herb, 2.5 m tall. Leaf sheath 57 cm long, petiole 35 cm, pulvinus 10 cm, all green, lower sheaths reddish proximally; blade 72x48 cm, ovate, green both sides. Shoot with 5 basal leaves. Inflorescence interfoliar, 90 cm long, main axis with 3 nodes, lower with leaf only, 2nd with leaf + 2 prophyllate partial inflorescences, these spikelike, unbranched, 21-29 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, greenish orange, prophyll 14 cm long, peduncle 25 cm. First internode 26 cm long, axis oval in x.s. 2.5 cm wide; 2nd internode 13.5 cm; 3rd internode 9 cm, 3rd node with bract, 14 cm long, and 2 prophyllate partial inflorescences and one bracteate young inflorescence. Terminal partial inflorescence with peduncle 7.5 cm. |
