| Field notes | "Clustering, stem ca. 2 m long; climbing, 3 cm in diameter with sheaths, ca. 1.5 cm in diameter without sheaths. Internodes ca. 27 cm long, no flagellum, leaf sheaths armed with spines from 2 mm to 4cm long, yellow, flattened, no knee. Petiole c. 73 cm long, 1 cm in diameter, rachis c. 70 cm long. Pinnae arranged in groups of 3 to 7, c. 28 cm long. Inflorescence interfoliar 1 new + 2 old upper leaves cirrhate. Some sheaths with remnants of flagellum. Male inflorescence interfoliar, 65 cm long. Prophyll 50 cm, green, splitting to 10 cm from base, nearly unarmed. Primary branches 10, to 16 cm long; each with up to 17, ascending socondary branches c. 5 cm long. Peduncular bract soon deciduous" |
