| Field notes | Solitary palm tree. Stem to 25 m tall, usually thickest in the middle, ca. 20 cm in diam. at base. Grey. Leaf sheath 75 cm long; petiole 25 cm long; rachis 200 cm long; pinnae 114 per side, regularly inserted in one plane, more or less pendulous. Infructescence recurved at joint peduncle rachis, with prophyll and 5 peduncular bracts, the last inserted 35 cm above prophyll, to 150 cm long; peduncle ca. 1 m long, 2 cm in diam. at apex; rachis 75 cm long, with 60 primary branches. Species abundant in this zone |
