| Field notes | Solitary; stem 4 m tall, 10 cm in diam. Leaves 8, with sheaths forming a shining, reddish brown pseudo-crownshaft, 80 cm long. Blade 170 cm long, petiole absent, pinnae 48 per side, with 1-4 veins, spreading in different planes. Inflorescence axis 75 cm long, bracts fallen; branches of (5) order 25, the lower five branches twice, to 45 cm long, the next 11 branched to 1 order, the upper branches simple, these and ultimate order branches with flowers, 20 - 30 cm long, 3 mm in diam. Flower buds pinkish. DNA sampled. |
