| Field notes | Clumps isolated, strictly caespitose. Rhizomes strongly determinate. Culms 9-10 m tall and 6.5 cm in diam., erect below, broadly arched above. Internodes solid, the pith succulent, surface entirely glabrous, deeply sulcate above branch bearing nodes. Nodes strongly inflated with heavy ridge above sheath scar. Culm leaf: sheath abscissing but disintegrating in place, dense velvety pubescent basally, glabrous apically; blade erect, persistent but very fragile at and above its midle. Principal branch heavy, often equalling the culm. Foliage leaves linear. |
