Locality Baños. Llanganates National Park, ca. 6 km north of Baños-Mera highway. Watershed of Río Zuñac, along trail ascending ridge towards crest of Cordillera Abitagua, about 1 km above the boundary of the national park with the Río Zuñac reserve of Fundación EcoMinga. Very wet cloud forest with abundant epiphytes; granite substrate. With students in the "Tropical Botany" field course, part of the project "Systematics and Evolution of the Neotropical clade of Schefflera s.l. (Araliaceae)".

Identification qualifier  
Field notes Sparsely branched, epiphytic tree ca. 4 m tall. Leaves medium green above, paler beneath, with scattered ferruginous indument. Inflorescence axes with dense ferruginous indument. Corolla in bud totally covered with long, shaggy ferruginous indument. Flowers at anthesis with pale green calyx rim, disc and filaments white, anthers reddish turning yellow. Photos, DNA.
