| Field notes | Well branched tree ca. 18 m tall. Leaves dark green above, whitish beneath. Inflorescence axes yellow-green, with short, light indument. Heads of flowers in bud globose, pale green, light brown indument visible between adjacent flowers, subtending bract with dense, short, light indument. Immature fruits in globose heads, visible portion of ovary wall yellow-green, with scattered indument, disc yellow, free portion of styles brownish, recurved. Mature fruits white, some tinged pinkish-red. Photos, DNA. |
