Field notes Canopy tree 25 m tall, 50 cm diameter. Bark light brown, mottled, peeling in 1 cm diameter flakes, revealing darker blotches. Slash reddish, no detectable odor. Crown dense, oval. Inflorescence ramiflorous, borne on horizontal branches, up to 2 m long, pendent. Bracteoles green. Calyx reddish to pale rose, mottled. Corolla cream. Flowers without detectable odor in afternoon; probably bat-pollinated. Common name: "guabo jiche"
