| Field notes | Terrestrial herb growing near stream (very wet), stem up to 3.5 m, rhizome long creeping 1 - 1.5 cm dia, scales brown, base of stem with few small stilt roots, distinct red, red at base, glabrous shiny, ligule green; leaves dark green pale belowciliate margin; inflorescence arising from rhizome, up to 1 m from the base of stem, bract pale brown to pale green, flowers peduncle up to 8 cm horizontal, bractiole pale yellowish calyx orange red about 30 flowers on one inflorescence. |
