Huanuco, region Pucallpa, western part of the "Sira mountains" and adjacent lowland; ca. 26 km S of Puerto Inca, nest to the junction of the Rio Pachitea and Rio Yuyapichis, biological field station "Panguana". Primary lowland rain forest with some xeromorphic elements, partly low, partly disturbed by local agriculture and logging. Soils: white sands or brown latosols with rocky outcrops.

Field notes Habit: dioeceous palm of understory of 1-3-(4.5)m heigth. Stem: green, 0.5 - 2.5 m (but up to 3.9 lenght), +/- 14 mm in diameter; internodes 4 - 10 cm long. Leaves: +/- 4 leaves; total lenght +/- 100 cm; shaths: green, +/- 20 cm long, tubular, totally enclosing the stem; petiole: +/- 30 - 40 cm long, green; rachis: (20)-40-50 cm long, green bearing (2)-4-8-(12) +/- alternative leaflets + a proeminent pair of end-pinnae. Inflorescence: single, infrafoliar, +/- horizontal (peduncle), rachillae curved downwards, branched to 1st order, male; peduncule: green, (15)-20-30-(50) cm long, 3 - 4 mm in diameter, bearing 5 - 6 tubular, green peduncular bracts (+/- 3 - 10 cm long, persistent but drying until anthesis); rachis: +/- 4 - (7) cm long, green, bearing c. 10 green rachillae, 15-20-(30) cm long; flowers: closely appressed and spirally arranged on the rachillae, greenish-yellow perianth, yellow stamina and prominent yellow pistillode. Note: specimens referred to this number have been collected from different individuals of one population; Specimen voucher of the female plant = N° 12-5689
