| Field notes | Habit: dioeceous clustering dwarf palm of the understory up to 70cm heigth. stem: green, 10-30cm (but up to 80cm length, but then inclined), 4-5mm in diameter; internodes 3.5-7cm long. leaves: 3-5 leaves; total length 40-60cm; sheaths: green, 7-9cm long, tubular, totally enclosing the stem; petiole: 15-20cm long, green; rachis: 12-15cm long, green, bearing +/10 leaflets which are arranged in a basal and a distal group. inflorescence (male): single, interfoliar, curved, branched to 1st (rarely 2nd) order; peduncle: green, 15-20cm long, 1mm in diameter, bearing prophyll (tubular, yellowish-white, hidden by the leafsheath, 3-6cm long) and 1st peduncular bract (tubular, green, later brown but persisting, 8-13cm long); rachis: 2-4cm long, green, bearing 6-13 green, stiff rachillae (rarely 2 rachillae on a short primary branch), 4-6cm long; flowers: arranged in acervuli on the rachillae, yellow perianth, stamina and pistillode yellowish white; inflorescence (female)/infructescence: basicly like the male inflorescence but commonly with 1 or 2 short primary branches basally; rachillae less (4-8), stiff, bearing single or paired green flowers; fruit: immature fruit green, ellipsoid, with a basal stigmatic remain.
