| Field notes | Solitary, small, tall to 2 m high, stem 2,5 cm in diam., internodes 4 cm; 8 leaves in the crown, crown shaft 40 cm long, leaf sheath 23 cm long, dark brown to blackish purple in colour, leaf 113-150 cm long, petocole 22-40 cm long, 4-7 leaflets in each side; inflorescence small, 12-15 cm long, first order branch, penduncle 1-2 cm long, fruits green to yellow. Vernacular Name: Pinang hutan (Indonesian for wild betel nut palm). Fruits as betel nut substitution. |
