Field notes Tree ca. 6 m tall; young twigs pale- to dark green, with prickling hairs; stipules green; spathe dull-yellow; main veins of the lamina green; lamina to 60x60 cm; petiole to 45 cm long; stipules to 27 cm long; spathe to 17 cm long; spikes 30-40, to 19 cm long; infl. usually in pairs, peduncle curved downwards, spikes pendulous; lamina with 8 lobes, incisions to 3/4-2/3; pollen dust; inhabited by large reddish not aggressive ants.
