| Field notes | Clustering, climbing stems arising from cluster of stemless, ecirrate shoots with leaves 3m incl. petiole 1.5m, with regular leaflets 30-40 per side, petiole with distant horizontal yellow spines to 1.5cm and distant horizontal inward-pointing brown spines to 2.5cm; mature stem: height 13m, stem length 18m, leaves 3.5m incl. petiole 60cm and cirrus 1.5m, leaflets concolorous, regular, 45 per side, sheaths dark green, knee zone dirty yellow with whorled yellow green spines, knee absent, inflorescence female, branched to two orders, flowers smelling of coconut, 3 first order branches, inflorescence erect at anthesis, 70 cm |
