| Field notes | Clustering, climbing rattan, height 4m, stem length 5m, leaves 3m incl. petiole 60cm, leaflets 60 per side, dark lucid green on both sides, with 5mm long bristles on 3 upper veins, conspicuous, sheaths brown, densely covered in black, yellow-tipped needle-like but soft spines to 4 cm, with two ear-like obes to whorls 1.5 cm apart, internode length 5 cm, stem diameter incl. sheats 4 cm, without 1.5 cm, inflorescences between auricles, fruit with 16 rows of scales; reddish brown |
