| Field notes | Caespitose palm in dense cluster of approximately 30 stems. Collected stem (one of the tallest) 4 m long, diam 3.5 cm; internodes 6.5 cm long, armed with black, applanate spines to 5.5 cm long. Leaves 4, inserted over 85 cm, spreading; sheath 58 cnm long, covered by a brown pubescence, heavily armed with black to brown, applanate spines to 4 cm long; petiole 17 cm long; rachis 109 cm long; pinnae inserted in groups of 3-3-4-3-9, the basal pinna of each group vertical, the apical horizontal, the groups separated by 3-8 cm. Sterile. |
