| Field notes | Caespitose palm. Stem about 10 m long, 15 cm in diam; internodes spiny. Leafsheath more than 120 cm long, outside spiny; petiole 31 cm long; rachis 220 cm long; pinnae 84, inserted in groups of 2-2-4-3-5-7-6-6-6-6-5-6- 7-5-5-3-6 (counted base to apex), basal pinna of each group erect, apical pinna horizontal to 30° below horizontal, basal pinna 56 x 1.6 cm, middle pinna 56 x 2.3 cm, apical pinna 23 x 3 cm. Infructescence infrafoliar, prophyll 19 cm long; peduncle 34 cm long, 2.5 cm in diam, green with brown pubescence; rachis 35 cm long, green with brown pubescence; rachillae 42, apical rachill 16.5 cm long; fruits green to orange, 5 cm long, 3.5 cm in diam. Inflorescence (from other individual) infrafoliar, creamy- white; peduncle more than 35 cm long, 4.5 cm in diam, rachillae 50 basal rachilla 35 cm long, apical rachilla 30 cm long. |
