| Field notes | Caespitose palm with 3 stems, to 2 m tall. Collected stem 125 cm long, 1.8 cm in diam; internodes 2.5 cm long, brown, glabrous. Leaves 11, inserted over 31 cm; sheath 13.5 cm long, outside covered by small, flattened, yellow spines; petiole 27 cm long; glabrous; rachis 42 cm long; pinnae 8 per side, inserted in groups of 2-3-3- (counted base to apex), in one plane, leather- like. Inflorescences 1-2 per stem, interfoliar; prophyll 10.5 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, glabrous; bract 21 cm long, 2 cm wide, covered by black spines; peduncle 12 cm long, 0.5 cm in diam, green, rachis 1 cm long; rachillae 3, basal rachilla 4 cm long, apical rachilla 4.5 cm long. |
