| Field notes | Solitary palm. Stem 150 cm long. Dbh. 3.0 cm. Stem brown. Length of nodes 0.5 cm, length of internodes 2.0 cm. Internodes with black flattened spines to 5.5 cm long pointing strait out from the stem. No. of leaves 8. Leafsheath 30 cm long. Petiole 17.5 cm long. Rachis 160 cm long. No. of pinnae 2 x 14. Pinnae inserted in groups of 2 the basal pinna having a slightly larger angel than the apical. 1 old inflorescence and 1 flower bud both interfoliar. Peduncle 78 cm long. Rachis 31 cm long.
