Field notes Solitary understory palm 225 cm tall. Stem 170 cm long from base to the basal leaf, diam. 1.1 cm. Internodes 3.1 cm long, green, glabrous, nodes prominent, brown, giving the stem a bamboo like appaerance. Number of leaves 4 + 1 juvenile. Leafsheath 17.2 cm long, encircling the stem for 17 cm, light green, striated. Petiole 20 cm long, the basal 7.5 channeled, the rest strait-concave, diam. below the basal pinna 0.6 cm. Rachis 40 cm long. Number of pinna 2 x 5-6. Pinnae regularly distributed, alternated. The basal pair of pinnae close to erect, the rest have an angel of about 45. Pinnae falcate, thin, green. Basal pinna 24 x 6.2 cm, central pinna 28 x 7.2 cm, apical pinna 28 x 11 cm. Inflorescences: 1 old decaying at 2nd node below the basal leaf, 1 bud subtended by each of the following leafsheaths.
