Field notes Solitary palm 4.5 m tall. Stem 300 cm long. Diam at base 7 cm, dbh. 4.2 cm. No. of internodes 31. Internodes 4 cm long at the base of the stem, at dbh. 20 cm long and 4.3 cm long below the crownshaft. nodes 0.5 cm long, brown. Base of stem with numerous adventitious roots. Adventitious roots up to 1.2 cm in diam., orange-brown, with lenticels, forming a basal cone 20 cm tall, 30 cm broad. No. of leaves 6. Leafsheath + petiole 90 cm long, transition hard to measure. Leafsheath encricling the stem for 49 cm thus froming a crownshaft. Crownshaft light green, glabrous. The not encircling part of the leafsheath dark green, channeled. Cross-section just below the basal pinna strait-concave 1.4 x 1.4 cm. Rachis 152 cm long, green, adaxially with a prominent midridge, striated, abaxially roucnded. No. of pinnae 2 x 25, regularly distributed except for minor displacements making pinnae opposite in some areas, alternated in others. Pinnae , inserted in one plane. Pinnae green, slightly falcate, adaxially with prominent veins, abaxially glabrous. Basal pinna 32 x 2.8 cm, middle pinnae 55 x 7.1 cm, apical pinnae 17.5 x 4.5 cm. Inflorescences, female; 1 flowerbud at 1st node below the crownshaft, 1 inflorescence at 2nd node below the crownshaft, 1 infructescence (immature) at node 3 and 4 below the crownshaft. Inflorescences: Prophyll; inserted 0.5 cm above the base, decaying. 1st sterile bract; inserted 0.7 cm above the base, decaying. 2nd sterile bract; inserted 6 cm above the base, 5.2 cm long, decaying. 3rd sterile bract; inserted 10 cm above the base, 11.5 cm long, decaying. 4th sterile bract; inserted 15.2 cm above the bse, 11.5 cm long, decaying. Peduncle 26 cm long, creamy-white, cross-section circular, diam. below the basal rachilla 0.8 cm. Rachis 3 cm long. No. of rachillae 7. Basal rachillae 9.5 cm long, apical rachillae 10 cm long.
