Field notes Solitary palm 4.5 m tall. Stem 2.5 m from base to crownshaft. Diam. at base 9 cm, dbh. 4.8 cm diam. below crownshaft 4.8 cm. Basal 100 cm of stem green, the rest covered by brown-black reminiscences of the leafsheaths. No. of internodes 24. Internodes 3.5 cm long at the base of the stem, 12 cm long below the crownshaft. Nodes 0.7 cm long, brown. Base of stem with numerous adventitious roots. Adventitious roots up to 1.2 cm in diam., orange-brown with lenticels, forming a basal cone, 17 cm tall, 45 cm in diam. No. of leaves 7 + 1 juvenile. Leafsheath 90 cm long, encircling the stem for 50 cm thus forming a crownshaft. Crownshaft green, striated, largest diam. 6.5 cm. The not encircling part of the leafsheaths channeled. Petiole 17 cm long, rounded abaxially, flattened adaxilly, diam. below the basal pinna 1.7 x 1.8 cm. Rachis 162 cm long, green, adaxially with a prominent mid-ridge, abaxially rounded. No. of pinnae 2 x 28. Pinnae inserted in one plane, regularly distributed except for minor displacements, making pinnae opposite in some areas and alternated in other. Pinnae green, slightly falcate, adaxially with prominent veins, abaxially glabrous. No. of inflorescences 3, inserted at node 3, 4, 5 below the crownshaft. Flowerbuds at node 1 and 2 below the crownshaft. Infructescence, immature; Prophyll, inserted 0.7 cm above the base, deciduous. No. of sterile bracts 5. 1st sterile bract; inserted 1.1 cm above the base, decaying. 2nd sterile bract; inserted 2.0 cm above the base, decaying. 3rd sterile bract; inserted 5.0 cm above the base, decaying. 4th sterile bract; inserted 11.0 cm above the base, decaying. 5th sterile bract; inserted 20. 0 cm above the base, decaying. Peduncle 29 cm long, light green, ovate, diam. beneath basal rachillae 1.3 x 0.9 cm. Rachis 13 cm long, light green. No. of rachillae 14, the basal rachilla 17 cm long, the apical 13.5 cm long. Scars from fruits regularly distributed, only few remaining fruits (bad growth ?). Fruits green, ovate 1.8 x 1.5 cm. Endosperm jelly-like, white.
