Field notes Solitary palm. Stem 105 cm from base to crownshaft, green, glabrous. Diam. at base 7 cm, diam below the crownshaft 5 cm. Base of stem with numerous adventitious roots. Adventitious roots up to 1 cm in diam., orange-brown, with few lenticels, forming a basal cone 18 cm tall, 30 cm in diam. No. of internodes 17. Internodes 2 cm long near the base, 12 cm long apically. No. of leaves 6 + 1 juvenile. Leafsheath 102 cm long, encircling the stem for 46 cm thus forming a crownshaft. The not encircling part of the leafsheath green, glabrous, channelled. Petiole 30 cm long, green, glabrous, diam. below the basal pinna 2 x 2 cm. Rachis 177 cm long, green, abaxially rounded, adaxially reverse V-shaped. No. of pinna 2 x 24. Pinna green, slightly falcate, adaxially with prominent ceins, abaxially glabrous. Basal pinna 40 x 5 cm, central pinna 36 x 5 cm, apical pinna 24 x 6.5 cm. Inflorescence; 1 at node 16, 1 flower bud at node 17. Infructescence; prophyll inserted 0.3 cm above the base, decaying. No. of sterile bracts 4. 1st sterile bract; inserted 0.8 cm above the base, decaying. 2nd sterile bract; inserted 7.1 cm above the base, decaying. 3rd sterile bract; inserted 7.6 cm above the base, 18 cm long. 4th sterile bract; inserted 17 cm above the base, 9 cm long, brown. Peduncle 42.5 cm long, creamy-white to green, ovate, diam. below basal rachilla 1 cm. Rachis 1.5 cm long. No. of rachillae 4, rchillae 11 cm long. No. of fruits per rachillae 4, rachillae 11 cm long. No. of fruits per rachillae up to 7. Scars from fruits regularly distributed, 21 per rachillae. Fruits green oblique ellipsoid, 0.5 x 0.4 cm.
