Field notes Solitary palm. Stem 120 cm measured form base to crown shaft, green. Diam. at base 8 cm, below crownshaft 4.5 cm. Internodes 3 cm long near base, 7 cm long below the crownshaft. Base of stem with numerous adventitious roots, forming a cone 15 cm tall, 73 cm in diam. Adventitious roots orange-brown, with lenticels. Number of leaves 6. Leafsheath 84 cm, encircling the stem for 34 cm thus forming a crownshaft. The not encircling part of the leafsheath convex-concave, green, glabrous. Petiole 25 cm long, cross-section nearly circular, diam. just below basal pinna 0.8 x 1.0 cm. Rachis 185 cm long, green, abaxially rounded, adaxially reverse V-shaped, striated. Number of pinna 2 x 23, regularly distributed, alternated, inserted in one plane. Pinna green, slightly falcate, adaxially with prominent veins, abaxially glabrous. Basal pinna 33 x 5 cm, central pinna 61 x 9 cm, apical pinna 25 x 8 cm. Inflorescence: male, infrafoliar, inserted at 1. and 2. node below the crownshaft. Inflorescence, inserted at 2. node below the crown shaft: old, prophyll deciduous, inserted 0.2 cm above the base. Number og sterile bracts 3. 1st sterile bract; inserted 0.5 cm above the base, 3 cm long, splitting up to apically. 2nd sterile bract; inserted 2 cm above the base, 6.5 cm long, encircling the peduncle for 2 cm, splitting up abaxially.3rd sterile bract; inserted 5.2 cm above the base, 6 cm long, encircling the peduncle for 1 cm, splitting up abaxially. Peduncle 10 long, creamy-white, ovate, diam. below basal rachillae 0.5 cm. Rachis 4 cm long. Number of rachillae 20. Basal rachillae 3 cm long, apical rachillae 1.5 cm long. Inflorescences inserted at 1. node below the crown shaft; 1 decaying, 1 nearly flowering and 5 buds of different size. In the following node, still covered by the leafsheath are similar but minor buds.
