| Field notes | Solitary palmtree, 3.5 m tall. Stem 230 cm from base to lowermost leaf, brown, rough from numerous leafschars. Internodes and nodes about 1 cm long, hard to distingues. Diam at base 4.0 cm, diam below lowermost leaf 3.5 cm. No of leafs 11 + one juvenile. Leafsheat 38 cm long transiton to petiole hard to distingues, slightly convex-concave in crosssection, yellow basically becoming green apically. Magro brown paperlike. Petiole 20 cm, crosssection adaxially oblick - shabed, abaxially concave darkgreen. Rachis 94 cm long darkgreen, adaxial side furrowed. No of pinnae 2 X 13 + 1, pinnae falcate. Largest pinnae (at the middle of lamina) 41 X 4.5 cm. Regularly inserted exept for minor displacements. Darkgreen with conspicious veins on both sides. Inflorescence intrafoliar, each leaf subtends on inflorescence or a bud. No of inflorescences 1 old, 1 mature + 1 bud. Inflorescence: inserted at base, 41.5 cm long, 1.5 cm broad, encircling the peduncle for 27 cm, splitty up laterally in both sides. At base yellow with cremy-white pubescence, becoming green towards the apex, furrowed 1. sheat. 3 bracht inserted 0.5 cm above the prophyl, 37.5 cm long, encircling the petiole for 17.5 cm, splitting up adaxially, light green to brown with white pubescence at the base, furrowed. Peduncle 65 cm long, ovate on crosssection 0.5 X 0.6 cm below spike, green, apically with brown pubescence. Inflorescence spikate 34 cm ling, largest diam (at base) 1.1 cm, dark green covered with zinnamon brown pubescence. Flowers numerous regulary distributed. |
