| Field notes | This species is the dominating in the pasture. Tree c. 25 m tall. Young branches and rachises have four longitudinal furrows, the mature are more or less terete. The leaves are in a distichous phyllotaxy, modular, and appear in a horizontal plane. The leaves have 10-13 pairs of leaflets; the stipules are filamentous and early caducous. One leaf bud encloses c. 8 leaves. The inflorescences are terminally inserted on the branches. The development in the inflorescence is centripetal. Bracts, bracteoles, sepals, petals, and apices of stamens are bright red, anthers are yellow. Nectar is secreted from the bottom of the hypanthium.
