| Field notes | Slender tree 7 m high. Diameter 15 cm. Young branches with four longitudinal furrows, mature circular in cross section. Leaves clustered terminally at branches, with 8-13 pairs of leaflets per leaf. Stipules are filamentous and early caducous. Inflorescences are terminally inserted on branches, diameter 16-25 cm, 60-75 flowers per inflorescence. Nectar is secreted from bottom of the hypanthium. Local name: Palo de cruz (spanish), Cruz caspi (Quichua). Information from Victoriano Criollo and his wife Angelica. Additional material (flowers in alcohol) in AAU. |
