Field notes Cultivated tree, 15 m tall; stipules early caducous; 18-19 pairs of leaflets/ leaf. Inflorescence ball shaped, ca. 25 cm in diameter, ca. 200 flowers per inflorescence; bracts, bracteoles, sepals, and petals are bright red; stamens are white at the base and red at the apex. Pollination: Hummingbirds were constantly around the tree; nectar was secreted from unstructural nectaries at the bottom of the hypanthium. Local name: Robin (information from Hostal owners wife). Additional material (flowers in alcohol) in AAU.
