| Field notes | Solitary understory palmtree with procumbent stern, ifwhich app. 1 m is above the ground at curved upward. Leaves 11; leaves apparently not extracted for thatching exposed part of petiole to 70 cm long green on adaxial side, with grayish brown zone on abixial side to app. 25 cm belowlowermost pinna terminating in a triangle, cans section of petiole convex-concave with sharp edges: rachis 425 cm long, proximal app. 220 cm flattened above, narrowing gracdually to a rounded edge, the transition between the two being inconspicuous; pinnae 2 X 81, regularly distributed in one plane, subalternate to opposite, the basalmost ones narrow and pendent, central pinnae largest, to 76 X 47 cm. Infructescences 6: lowermost ones partly below the ground: number of fruits pr head 3 to 8; peduncle 20-25 cm long,, flattened, cross section 3,2 x 1,6 cm at insertion 0f the second bract, covered by black; Iacquer-Iike substance 1 sheathing bract inserted at 13 cm above the base, 2nd sheathing brad inserted 6 cm above 1-sheathing bract, prophyll and bracts desingrated in fibrous mesh.
