Field notes Caespitose, acaulescent, shrubby rattan no more than 1 m tall. Infructescences produced from ground level. Vernacular name: Wai pum (Thai) or Wai tia (Thai). Fire tolerant but not fire resistant. The partly subterranean cabbage is eaten (ethnobotanical information provided by Mr. Swang Onkamtan)
