| Field notes | Caespitose palm with 8-10 leaves in crown; without or with short stem. Leaf petiole 110-115 cm long covered by grayish felt like tomentum; armed with yellowish-red, black tipped spines. Leaf rachis 190 cm long. Pinnae 2 x 34, evenly distributed in one plane, alternate baqwsally to opposite or subopposite apically. Inflorescence with 54 cm long peduncle, bicarinate, yellowish basally to green distally; rachis 50 cm long as measured to the point of insertion of the apical rachilla, flagellate; rachis bracts green 10-12 cm long basally, resolving more or less cleanly at the apex; number of 1st order branches 8, basal 1st order branch with 19 fruit-bearing rachillae, basal most rachillae with 8-10 fruits.
