| Field notes | Solitary palm, about 14 m tall, stem DBH 20-21 cm, brown basally, green below the crown, distance between nodes ca. 24 cm. Leaves in crown 9. Bases first order leaf rachillae swollen and inhabited by ants. Tree with 1 almost mature infructescence, 1 immature infructescence, and 1 inflorescence being transitional between female and male flowering phase. Mature infructescence: peduncle 82 cm long; peduncular bract spiltting cleanly, conspicuously carinate towards the apex; rachillae 110; rachis 85 cm long, green, glabrous; basal rachillae 180 cm long with 90 fruits; mid rachillae 195 cm long, with 135 fruits; apical reachillae 173 cm long, with 110 fruits. Fruits globose to slightly asymmetrical, 12-14 mm in diam., reen maturing red to blakish. Male inflorescence with flowers in bud: buds 1.5 cm long, petals fleshy, greenish yellow. |
